Installation Technicians (Ottawa, Calgary, GTA)

pillarlogoPillar Telecommunication Solutions (incorporated in 2002) is expanding; we are actively recruiting experienced Telecommunications Installers. Motivated, hard working Equipment Installers looking to broaden their experience in the dynamic communications industry are welcomed to apply.

We are currently engaged in projects across Canada from Newfoundland and Labrador to Vancouver, BC. As an Installer for Pillar, you will work with other skilled technicians on equipment owned by some of Canada’s largest communications service providers. You will be an integral part of a customer focused team with great attention to detail and respect for a job well done.

Equipment Installers (full-time positions in Ottawa)

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site installation/removal of equipment as required per information provided in MOP’s, engineering designs, acceptance documents, technical manuals, etc.
  • Proactively solve potential installation issues that could cause delays
  • Assist Supervisor with project scheduling and assignment of resources
  • Manage job materials and tools, resolve minor field material discrepancies
  • Report to operations manager regularly

Standard Entry Level Qualifications:

  • Completion of High School Diploma and an Electronic Technology/Technician program from a recognized technical school or equivalent training and experience
  • Knowledge of network installation tasks and work activities encompassing many types of Network equipment
  • Demonstrated skill in commissioning and installation of Network equipment
  • A history of adherence to company safety policies and customer service focus
  • Capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment
  • Able to climb (ladders) and work in confined spaces
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Dependable, flexible, organized and reliable
  • Eager to learn new skills and information about telecommunications and CATV networks
  • Accept responsibility and accountability for work performed
  • Creative and innovative thinker
  • Professional in appearance and work habits
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • Self-motivated and energetic
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Bondable

Additional Skills considered an asset:

  • RF installation experience
  • Fiber splicing
  • DC power experience
  • Structured wiring experience
  • Valid journeyman electrical certificates
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Dependable, flexible, reliable and customer focused
  • Eager to learn new skills and information about telecommunications network.
